Living with Cerebral Palsy - Capozziello

Posted in Chris Capozziello, Exhibitions on February 4th, 2010 by admin

This story has been an ongoing project for many years now. It has served as a way for me to ask questions about suffering, and faith, and why any of us are born into this world with disease. It has been a way for me to deal with the reality of having a twin brother who struggles through life in ways that I do not. Nick has recently undergone deep brain stimulation surgery to help curb the effects of his cerebral palsy. Our family now waits to see how or if the surgery will change his life.

Matt Mallams and Elyse Butler are having a group exhibit along with photographers Justin Maxon and Kainaz Amaria at the San Francisco Exposure Gallery entitled, As We See It.

“The exhibit showcases a mix of photography, from traditional journalistic storytelling that touches on social issues and street photography, to texture studies and experimentation. With their distinct views, this next generation of photographers has applied their voice and vision to the world they see around them. They have selected the medium of photography to preserve our time and the details that often go unnoticed.”

Pleas join us for the Opening Reception on April 2nd, 2009 from 5 - 8:30 pm.

We will also be speaking at Photo Night at 7:30 pm.

The gallery is located at 609 Howard St. San Francisco, CA 94105.

We hope to see you there!

If the Way is Open - Exhibition by Elyse Butler & Matt Mallams

Posted in Elyse Butler, Exhibitions, Matt Mallams on January 13th, 2009 by admin

 If the Way is Open
Please join Elyse Butler & Matt Mallams for the opening of their exhibition If the Way is Open on Thursday, January 22nd, 2009 from 5:00 - 7:30 pm at The Visions Gallery - presented by Brooks Institute & Marriott Ventura Beach.

“If the Way is Open is a body of work that portrays the ebb and flow of life. For us, photography is not just a job, it is a lifestyle. We follow our intuition and use our cameras as a medium to record the unique moments that happen in our everyday. We feel that life offers situations far more strange and beautiful than anything we could come up with. This work is personal, it is documentation of our feelings and memories, and our observations of reality. We make pictures to better understand life as we’re living it.” - Elyse Butler & Matt Mallams

The address: 2055 East Harbor BoulevardVentura, CA 93001

Elyse & Matt will also be speaking at Brooks Institute on Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 at 6:30 pm.

Hope to see you there!
