10,000 feet above the sea on the summit of Haleakala, Maui.

Elyse and I were on assignment in Maui last week, but before we headed back home, we made a trip above the clouds to the summit of Maui’s volcano Haleaka  (10,025 ft).

It has been nearly three months since his second brain surgery. As we visit the doctor every three or four weeks, and minor adjustments are remotely made to the device implanted in Nick, we are with him while his body reacts positively and negatively. This process of adjustments may take up to a year.

Elyse Butler and Matt Mallams drove the road to Hana in Maui, while on the island for a few shoots for HanaHou! Magazine. Here’s some of Elyse’s photos of this verdant rainforest wrapping around the windy road along the north-eastern sea-cliffs in Maui.
